The Joy of Sunflower Yellow: How My Favourite Colour Became My Brand

For as long as I can remember, sunflower yellow has been my colour. Bright, bold, and unapologetically cheerful, it’s always been an instant pick-me-up for the soul. But what began as a personal preference has evolved into a deeper connection, one that reflects my personality and embodies my journey.

I wanted to share how sunflower yellow became my signature, how it connects to my identity as someone with ADHD, and how it fuels my personal brand.

The Unexpected Connection to ADHD

When I was diagnosed with ADHD-Combined at the age of 30, I had one of those “aha” moments that tied everything together. It explained so much about my energy, creativity, and the way my brain constantly bounces between ideas. Shortly after, I discovered something surprising: the colour for ADHD awareness is a shade of yellow remarkably close to my beloved sunflower hue.

This connection felt serendipitous, almost like an affirmation that I’d been gravitating towards this colour for a reason. Yellow, in all its boldness and brightness, mirrors the ADHD experience for me: vibrant, chaotic at times, but full of potential and joy.

What was once my favourite colour suddenly became a symbol of something much bigger. It was no longer a shade that made me happy; it was a representation of my identity, my journey, and my superpowers.

Yellow as a Reflection of My Neurodivergence

Living with ADHD has its challenges, but it’s also a source of immense creativity and resilience. Yellow encapsulates those qualities perfectly. It’s a colour that doesn’t fade into the background or apologise for being bold. In the same way, I’ve learned to embrace my neurodivergence as a strength rather than a limitation.

When I started building my personal brand, I wanted every aspect of it to reflect my authenticity. Sunflower yellow wasn’t only a design choice; it was a statement. It said, “I’m here, I’m bright, and I’m ready to make an impact.”

A Colour That Stands for Optimism

Running a business, navigating challenges, and chasing dreams all require one essential ingredient: optimism. Yellow embodies that for me. It’s the colour of persistence, a reminder that even on tough days, the sun is still shining somewhere.

I’ve carried this energy into everything I do, from my personal brand to Kickass Online, my digital marketing company. Whether I’m building AI-powered solutions or strategising traffic campaigns, sunflower yellow reflects the resilience and energy I bring to every project.

Serendipity Meets Strategy

While sunflower yellow has deeply personal meaning for me, it also happens to be a brilliant branding choice. It’s bold, memorable, and impossible to ignore, perfect for making a splash in a crowded market. Beyond its practicality, it’s a visual reminder of my journey and the values I hold dear: authenticity, creativity, and a relentless drive to make an impact.

The Power of Finding Your Anchor

For me, sunflower yellow isn’t only a colour; it’s a reminder of who I am and what I stand for. It’s a reflection of my resilience in the face of challenges and my optimism for what’s ahead. It’s also a subtle way of honouring the ADHD community, a group that’s taught me to celebrate the beauty of thinking differently.

What’s Your Sunflower Yellow?

We all have something that anchors us, that sparks joy and keeps us grounded. For me, it’s a colour that’s been with me through every stage of my journey. For you, it might be a place, a song, or even a smell. Whatever it is, lean into it. Let it inspire you, shape your story, and remind you of the light you bring to the world.

Thank you for letting me share my love for sunflower yellow. Maybe next time you see that bright, golden hue, you’ll think of joy, resilience, and the beautiful chaos that comes with embracing who you truly are.
