▸ THE IRREPLACEABLE SCORECARD

Automate it, augment it,
or leave it alone?

The most expensive AI mistake isn't picking the wrong tool. It's pointing a good tool at the wrong work. Score any workflow in your business against ten honest questions, and the Scorecard tells you which of three buckets it belongs in — and what to do about it this month.

AutomateRepetitive, rule-based, high-volume. A machine should already be doing this.
AugmentJudgement work where AI makes your people faster but shouldn't replace them.
Leave aloneRelationship, trust and taste. Automating these is how you end up sounding like everyone else's chatbot.
How to use it: pick one real workflow — "chasing overdue invoices", "writing quotes", "the Monday report" — and answer for how it actually runs, not the version in the ops manual. Honest inputs, useful outputs. Then score another.
  1. 01 Does this task happen at least weekly?
  2. 02 Would two competent people doing it produce roughly the same result?
  3. 03 Does the information it needs already live in your systems — inbox, CRM, spreadsheets?
  4. 04 Could you write the steps down for a new starter on a single page?
  5. 05 Does it involve copying, re-typing or moving information between systems?
  6. 06 Does it depend on a relationship — winning or keeping a client, supplier or team member?
  7. 07 Would a wrong answer embarrass you in front of a customer?
  8. 08 Does it need judgement that depends on context a system can't see?
  9. 09 Is it something clients specifically value you or your people for?
  10. 10 Does it involve taste, tone or trust — the things people remember you by?

Answer all ten — each one moves the needle.
